Ending new HIV transmissions in the U.S. is within reach — if we act now. In a new op-ed at LGBTQ Nation, Tristan Schukraft, Founder and CEO of MISTR, shares how companies can take action.
Thanks to scientific breakthroughs, people living with HIV can lead healthy lives without transmitting the virus. Yet, access to life-saving medications like PrEP remains a challenge. We know how to end HIV, but achieving this goal requires strong partnerships between government, private industry, and community organizations.
Just as we’ve made historic progress, potential funding cuts and legal challenges now threaten HIV prevention efforts. If these setbacks succeed, the consequences for public health — and businesses — will be severe. This is where employers and business leaders must step up.
In the LGBTQ Nation article, Tristan Shukraft writes, “Businesses have the power and platform to normalize HIV prevention and drive measurable outcomes. At MISTR, we see firsthand what’s possible: Since introducing DoxyPEP, STI positivity rates among our patients have been cut in half. But it’s not just about prescriptions — it’s about messaging.”
