World AIDS Day Activations
Several member companies marked World AIDS Day this year with special activations, employee events, and the publication of articles and social media posts. Here are some highlights:
Mercer published an article on the “5 Things employers can do to end HIV”, encouraging clients to include HIV on their benefits strategy road map. They also released a new video to help explain why all employers should be aware of the extent to which HIV affects the US workforce.
Match Group'sBLK partnered with BHOC to launch a push notification to users on World AIDS Day promoting at-home HIV testing services through Together TakeMeHome. The activation resulted in over 850 HIV self-test kit orders - the highest among the dating app activations on December 1.
On November 25, KPMG hosted a virtual webinar for its U.S. employees ahead of World AIDS Day. The session covered HIV basics, the significance of the awareness day, and ways employees can take action. Mario was invited to highlight KPMG's commitment through the Coalition and discussed the business community’s role in addressing gaps in HIV care delivery.
Mario participated in the World AIDS Day webinar hosted by SAP and IBM, who, in partnership with the HRC, lead the #workingpositively pledge. This initiative showcases outstanding corporate leadership in raising awareness about HIV and combating HIV-related stigma in the workplace. Read more.
Walmart Specialty Pharmacy held a day-long workshop in partnership with the International Association of Providers of AIDS Care (IAPAC) and the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) in Baton Rouge to discuss the role of leveraging community-based pharmacies for PEP and PrEP uptake in Louisiana.
Paramount Pictures honored World AIDS Day by lighting up their iconic Paramount Pictures water tower to show solidarity in the fight against HIV and AIDS and shared their commitment on Instagram.
We felt the amazing energy of the Annual Meeting all over again as we scrolled through the complete photo gallery from the day of events. Check out the complete collection of images, and feel free to download and share your favorites.
We had the privilege of collaborating with Coalition member Diagonal Media to capture highlights at the 2024 Annual Meeting in Atlanta. Diagonal produced a reel that reflects the passion and dedication of our members and partners—just in time for World AIDS Day. Watch the video and share on your social platforms.
On behalf of the Coalition, Caroline and Mario had the privilege of attending The White House’s World AIDS Day commemoration on December 1. It was a powerful moment to stand alongside community leaders, federal staff, and HIV advocates as the AIDS Quilt was displayed on the South Lawn for the first time, symbolizing our collective commitment to remember, honor, and continue working toward an end of HIV.
On December 10, we hosted the inaugural convening of our third local chapter in Los Angeles at The Abbey in West Hollywood, with support from Gilead Sciences and ViiV Healthcare, and in collaboration with MISTR, Mercer, and the Los Angeles LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce.
Attendees learned about the local HIV epidemic from L.A. County Department of Public Health’s Mario Perez, the opportunity for businesses to take action from Paramount Pictures’ Jennifer Lynch, ViiV Healthcare’s Kristen Tjaden, and MISTR’s Tristan Schukraft, and the power of leveraging public-private partnerships from Patrick Kirkwood of the Los Angeles LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce.
Sincere appreciation to Tristan Schukraft and The Abbey staff for hosting the inaugural convening. And thank you to the additional local organizations and companies that attended, including Avita Care Solutions, GEHA Health, Grindr, Healthvana, IHDLab, Keller Williams Realty, LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games, LA Philharmonic, The Wall Las Memorias, Elton John AIDS Foundation, AIDS United, Los Angeles LGBT Center, and many others!
