U.S. Business Leaders to Congress: Now's the Time To End the HIV Epidemic

Ending HIV isn't just a public health goal — it's a business imperative. The co-founders of U.S. Business Action to End HIV are calling on Congress to maintain and expand life-saving HIV prevention and treatment programs.

A letter to Congress

U.S. Business Action to End HIV, the nation’s largest coalition of employers committed to ending the HIV epidemic, has issued a call to Congress: Ending HIV in the U.S. is possible, but it will take continued federal leadership and robust public-private partnerships to get there.

In a letter sent today to congressional leaders, the Coalition’s co-founders urged lawmakers to sustain and expand critical HIV prevention and treatment programs, safeguard decades of progress, and ensure that groundbreaking innovations in prevention and treatment are accessible to everyone.

Ending HIV isn't just a public health goal; it's a business imperative. U.S. Business Action to End HIV unites more than 100 employers who collectively operate in all 50 states — in industries from health care and technology to retail and entertainment — who recognize that healthy communities drive economic growth, reduce health care costs, and strengthen the workforce. Businesses are stepping up by offering comprehensive HIV coverage, educating employees, and combating stigma — but continued federal partnership is vital to achieving lasting progress.

The Coalition urges Congress to:

  • Maintain federal and state HIV prevention and treatment programs to safeguard decades of hard-won progress.
  • Advance policies that sustain and expand life-saving public health efforts to keep the momentum going.
  • Expand access to essential HIV services like testing, prevention, and treatment so everyone can stay healthy—regardless of where they live or their circumstances.
  • Strengthen public-private collaboration to close gaps in care, especially in communities most impacted by HIV.

The fight against HIV is at a pivotal moment. In 2019, President Donald Trump launched the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative, setting the bold goal of ending the U.S. epidemic by 2030. With continued federal leadership and investment, we can make that vision a reality.
