In a new op-ed in Fortune, Mercer CEO Martine Ferland and CDC Foundation President and CEO Dr. Judy Monroe announce the newly formed National Commission on Climate and Workforce Health and call on employers to protect their workers from climate-related health hazards.
The op-ed addresses recent climate events — such as extreme heat and devastating wildfires — and outlines the climate-related risks to the physical and mental health of employees — and to the health of businesses; rising temperatures increase worker illness, injury, and health care costs and reduce productivity.
Read the full op-ed to learn more about the business impacts of our changing climate, and what employers can do about it.
